Personal Information
About Me
My name is Scott Fray. I was born in Detroit area Michigan, on December 29th, 1964. I lived in Southfield, Fenton, and Flint, MI, respectively. I went to college at The Center for Creative Studies in Detroit for illustration. After a brief stay in San Diego (Chula Vista), I moved to North Carolina, which is where I presently live and have lived since 1990. I own a 1889 Victorian home with six fireplaces, three porches, and stained glass, etc., that I have done a lot of work to. I was a bit lucky in that the house came with two extra lots, adding a fair amount of space to my already largish corner lot in Reidsville's downtown historic district. I also have peach, plum, pecan, mulberry and walnut trees in the yard. I do like the house, but sometimes I really can't stand living in a tiny little town in the south. So, I like to travel a lot. You can check out some of my adventures in my Travel photo section.

My Work as an Artist
The picture at right is of me at my old (self employed) job. For six years I had a shop at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. I sold artwork of various kinds, transitioning into silk painting and dying. My shop is still there, tended by my old friend and business partner Yvette, and it's now called "Silk Road". Stop in and say hello if you're ever there. Every thing I did and created for the festival, all the crafts, plus costumes, signage, building architecture, etc., had to be in the style of the sixteenth century. I excelled in a couple of these areas, winning awards for costuming (albino peacock feathers and all) and signage.

I've always made my living as a commercial artist. Screenprinting, sign painting, large-scale outdoor murals, etc. gave way to advertising work once I moved to NC. I don't have to starve anymore, but I've worked such stupidly long hours for years and years at advertising agencies, it now seems like I've blinked and ten years have gone by. I'm single and I don't have children, nor do I recommend either of those if you're going to work in advertising- you just can't have a life. Still interested? Check out my Resume. At the moment, I have made a career change. After an exceptional year, the economic currents shifted to the other extreme and I was left with the feeling that I had to radically reassess my skill set and my approach. I did some research, and found an emergent web technology that blew me away. I knew I could learn it, and I took three months off to do just that. Now I have released a site that is not only exciting, but very advanced. (www.IdeactionMedia.com) At this writing, there are only a small handful of people in the world with a site anywhere near mine. Now I just have to get noticed by the right people. Wish me luck!
