It's a busy time. I find myself involved a lot of projects, of both a business and personal creative nature. As always, feel free to email me at Scott Fray@aol.com

New Studio
Since May of 2000, I have put a lot of work into refurbishing the third (top) floor of a turn of the century warehouse for the purpose of throwing paint around in wild ecstatic outbursts. It has a high, pitched roof, wood plank flooring, and one brick wall. Dormered windows provide light, along with the many twinkling white Christmas lights I strung through the rafters and enormous oak beams. The masterpiece of the space are the huge iron gears that operate a gigantic hand-operated elevator. A large, fat rope cranks the platform up and down, which is still very functional. I don't use it, however, because the antique mall down on the first floor uses it as display area. I have placed a few lights here and there to add drama to those interesting gears.

I have done more cleaning than painting so far. I found that pigeons are truly pests and that it takes more than the industrial class wire-brush power stripper that I rented to clear away a hundred years of their droppings. Unbelievable!

I have made a few paintings, and Im very excited about the prospects of opening up to a greater degree of heretofore unexpressed creativity. After 18 years of working at the business of art for commercial purposes, I have found that I never got the opportunity to express but the merest amount of what I felt I had to offer. I look forward to opening the door to a broader spectrum of creativity and enjoyment.

Photography
I love photography. I also love (really) design. It's not that often that a commercial project will come along that allows me to create great design. So, I endeavor to find expression through projects such as these. Here are several sites all with their own look and feel that give me the opportunity to show off some of the photography I have done in interesting places such as Antarctica, Iceland, India, Nepal, Lapland, and Argentina. Keep in mind that you can toggle the thumbnail views and click on each of them to see the full sized photo.

Whitewater!
This year I discovered whitewater rafting. I took trips on the New River, in West Virginia, the Pigeon, in Tennessee, and the great Gauly in West Virginia. The latter was, of course, the best ride. A class 5+ river with monster swells as big as a single story building. Big fun. But mostly, it's a chance to get outdoors and enjoy the landscape and feel yourself surrounded by the natural environment. Ellen and I got a good taste of this when went rafting down the river that flows down The Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru this past autumn. I've also begun to really enjoy canoeing, and Ive written a few things on this that I'd enjoy sharing with you.

Three Pound Planet
I'd like to invite you to visit my personal site. It's chock full of great stuff. Creative ventures of all sorts. http://www.scottfray.com/planet/
