"Portrait" Movie
This film by Spanish director Jose Carasco chronicles the life of an artist seeking to be true to his own vision is going to be entered in many film festivals around the world. It was through his auspices of my friend New York collage artist Jonathan Talbot that I became involved in this production. I bodypainted three characters for a dream sequence which reveals to the protagonist a resolution to his artistic tribulations.

Swimming with Manatees
As it turns out, there is only one county in the world in which you can interact with manatees - Homosassa, Florida. Not just swim with them— touch them, pet them, even rub their bellies. It's quite an experience to have a 3000 pound marine mammal roll over next to you so that you can scratch it's belly. What amazing and angelic creatures! So sweet and gentle, despite their massive size. Here's some underwater shots of an incredible encounter.

The Galactic Times
If you were to ask me about the things that have impacted me the most in recent years, I would have to say that I have learned a very great deal about the world that is very different from what is communicated in the mainstream media. In other words, My view of reality has shifted. I now see that there is a very large gap between what I have discovered and the consensual view shared by most everyone else. The bottom line - there are whole new frontiers for the curious and the brave to delve into. I've made the search a little easier by giving you a vast, encyclopedic information resource. I've done a whole lot of work, so you'll be able to get right to the juicy bits.

Murals
I've always liked the idea of murals. I believe they represent the most democratic of art forms. Just recently, I went back to visit family and friends in Michigan over the 2002 Fourth of July holiday. I'm not completely certain why I did this, but I found myself volunteering to two large scale murals. I ended up finding myself passionately involved in these projects, working even on the fourth of July, beginning working at about 10 or 11 in the morning, taking a break to watch fireworks for about three hours in the evening, and laboring straight on until 5:30 a.m. I repeated this schedule for several days to finish it off. Wonderful what can be accomplished with a few gallons of latex house paint and a dose of obsession.

+Writings!
Check out the "Writing" section in this site for a sampling of my recent poems. I have changed my whole approach. I'm writing in a less structured more prosaic manner these days, trying to layer the textural qualities of ordinary experiences with the immanence of transcendence and grace hidden within them.

New Artworks!
I've established an art directory section specifically for the new art creations I've been busy tinkering with. The first thing I've done is a little take-off on Henri Matisse.

Other Goodies

Ideaction Media Productions Website

This website is my new professional site promoting myself as a Flash animator. It feels like interactive television- very cinematic, full-screen, in your face with music and sound effects. I hope you have a fast internet connection because this one moves fast.

Obsidian Magazine

Now defunct, Obsidian was a great accomplishment for me and one of the best magazines in its genre. I'm still proud of the good work that we did, and offer you a sample of it here: Issue No. 4, dedicated to ancient Egypt. Along with the new issue, I have totally rebuilt the entire website! Plus, it also has a free interactive sample of the magazine available in an Adobe Acrobat PDF file.

What did I have to do with Obsidian? I was Creative Director and also Copublisher with Myrriah and Jorah Lavin. I also created all the visuals- illustrations, graphics, lettering, and photography for all issues of the magazine and both incarnations of the website, which includes html, animations, Acrobat and Flash work.

Heart of the Himalayas Website
In October of 1998 I went to India, Nepal and Thailand on a pilgrimage to make an offering of dance to the Tibetan people living in exile in those countries. An international group of 50 women and myself, led by Prema Dasara and Anahata Iradah, performed a dance that was an interpretation of a prayer dedicated to the Tibetan Goddess Tara. Prema devised and taught the dance for many years all over the world, a moving mandala invoking the twenty one aspects of Tara. This work reached its pinnacle (so far) when H.H. The Dalai Lama asked that the performance be brought to The Tibetans. My part in all of this was to gather reference for a children's book series that would include a section on Tibetan, Indian and Nepali children for my Children of a Vanishing World series, to photo-document the adventure, and to participate as a musician in the performances. I played an Afghanistani instrument called a Bulba Tarang to accompany the Tara dancers as we performed before the Dalai Lama and before a stellar array of the High Lamas of Tibetan Buddhism.

I have two websites dedicated to photographs of the trip

Writing Projects
Heket— How Do We Grow The Gods?
Hey, I've been writing! This is such a rich vein for me to tap into! Owing a large debt of gratitude to the incomparable Pythia, this article is an exploration into the cultural, mythic, archetypal, and biological evolution of gods and goddesses as they move through time. Heket, ancient Egyptian frog goddess is chronicled in her metamorphosis into Hecate, Queen of the Witches.

A children's story done in the style of Dr. Suess. You've got to take a look at this one. For all the academic density of the Heket article above, this one is as light as can be.
